Client sent me a link to Black Box KVM's..

Asking questions. He usually uses Raritan.

I hadn't seen any Black Box gear in many many years. It used to be
rebranded stuff from a variety of vendors. Has that changed? Anyone use
their gear?

=============================================================== From: Joe Freeman via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ I haven't used black box equipment in at least 15 years. For commercial grade KVM's, there are several on the market, but for the last few years, I've been using Avocent KVMoIP solutions ( https://www.vertiv.com/en-us/products/monitoring-control--management/avocen= t-kvm-over-ip/). Like many other brands, Vertiv bought Avocent a while back, but they've kept the Avocent trademark. Joe

=============================================================== From: Michael Harrison via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ Thanks. Especially for the comment about Black Box. Hadn't seen any of those in the wild. Tried finding a simple remote KVM box in that website.. It seems these "transmitters" don't have remote access built in. They require the entire ecosystem. More for your world: data centers and command/control centers. https://www.vertiv.com/en-us/products-catalog/monitoring-control-and-manage= ment/ip-kvm/vertiv-avocent-5150t6150t-zero-u-ip-kvm-transmitters and prices just for that part, $800+ ent-kvm-over-ip/).

=============================================================== From: Joe Freeman via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ I'd shop that around to the usual VARs as that sounds like list price. I typically use Netceed (was Walker), Power & Tel, KGPCo or another distributor/var for stuff like that rather than go direct.. Also, as an alternative, you can go with the Tripp Lite B072-016-1-IP 16 port IP KVM (there's an 8 port variant as well) for around $8-900. The transmitter units are about $100 each, sometimes less.
